"They're Banking On You" is the event; "A Swine Evening" is the theme ... and it's the most fun and creative charity event of the season! The second annual A Swine Evening was a colorful gala Celebrity Piggy Bank party and auction at on May 30th, 2009 at Grand Central, located at 1000 Central Avenue in Charlotte.

Successful on-line and on-site auctions of some 96 celebrity-signed piggy banks and accompanying prizes raised $100,000.  Featured piggy bank were autographed by actor Will Smith, rock group The Eagles, Carolinas Panther Steve Smith, author Nicholas Sparks, NASCAR legend Richard Petty and Tony Award-winning dancer Savion Glover. Twenty of the piggy banks were decorated by A Child's Place client homeless children who attend Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (see the “About Us” tab above).


Everyone had a "swine time" helping homeless children!

The event included live entertainment, a dance floor, food and a full bar, plus both live and silent auctions. An eBay auction which began on May 20th culminated during the event for added excitement.
