2 DAYS + 150 VOLUNTEERS = 2100 Homeless children ready for the first day of school!
Come be a part of A Child’s Place First Annual Back-to-School Stuff-A-Thon. This two-day event has something for everybody! It will take everybody’s effort to get these backpacks stuffed and to the schools for our kid’s first day of class!
Day One: August 23rd begins with volunteers packing all the school supplies and transporting them from the ACP office to our Stuffing Headquarters at the Grady Cole Center. We will need 10 volunteers to help us pack, load the supplies and deliver them to this location. Once the supplies arrive at HQ we will need 10-15 volunteers to help us stage the assembly lines and boxing stations for Day Two.
Day Two: August 24th, will be a day of controlled chaos! There will be three assembly lines for school supplies and two for snacks. There will be two shifts each lasting two hours. Each person will have a specific task whether it be: stuffer, stocker, packer, boxer or delivery person. Each stuffer has one item that they put into the bag while it travels down the assembly line and by the end the backpack is zipped up and ready for transport. After boxes are filled with stuffed bags they are then given to the delivery crew to be dropped at one of nine targeted school locations.
CALLING ALL SUVs, VANS or TRUCKS – Delivery includes multiple big boxes stuffed to the brim with backpacks chalk-full of supplies. We will need at least 5 SUVs and drivers to deliver the supplies to the schools.
Not sure what job you might want? See below for the job descriptions and pick a task that you like the most. You can sign up here!
Not able to volunteer your time? We still need school supplies to put into our backpacks. Check our Critical Needs page to get the latest update on the supplies we still need to provide each child their own backpack and supplies for the year.
** Although we would enjoy all your children's help, for productivity reasons we have set an age limit of 12 and older. Thank you for your help!!**
